Spare: Part 3: Captain of My Soul

The third and final part of Prince Harry’s Spare, is quite honestly probably the most vulnerable part of the book. This part takes you through his and Meghan’s relationship from the very start to the most current state. While that may sound like sunshine and roses, they endured A LOT of unnecessary harassment from the media. While Harry grew up battling with the media, Meghan became a target and much of this part of the book deals with the battle between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the media in Britain which is ultimately one of the reasons that they were to flee Britain.

Overall, while this book took me a little bit of time to get through, I appreciated the vulnerability of the Prince and can’t help but to feel a sense of pride for him telling his story for the world in his own words and not the words of the media. As a fan of the Royal Family, I have a new found respect for the things that they have to go through on a day to day basis and I have new opinions on a few of the members. While I’m sure this was not the intent of the stories told, one can’t help but form new opinions after hearing them. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to learn about a Prince that they knew very little about or thought they knew everything about and they will come to find that they don’t know anything at all.
